Demi Moore of the Dog World

Okay, so he's a male... but he's a LOVELY MALE!!!

This beautiful boy's name is Buddy. He initially came into the shelter as a stray. The amazing thing about this dog is he is 10 years old but constantly gets out of the yard because he jumps 6 foot fences.

He's shockingly fit and young looking for his age. (The Demi Moore of the dog world! But without photoshop!!!). His owners relinquished him because he continues to get out of the yard.

This poor guy is really sad at the shelter and could really use a safe and loving home.

Her name is Oreo and she really is a sweetie!!!

She's been at the shelter a loooooong time.... in spite of being super adorable. But she needs a specific type of home. She would be best as an only dog without young children. If you are the human best friend or best family she's seeking please conatct the shelter right away and go meet her. She has been waiting for you.

Blind Baby

He can hear the other dogs, and feel their bodies against him. When people talk he comes over and puts his soft face to the bars, his tail wagging. He knows I'm on the other side talking to him, and reaching my fingers through the bars to touch his face. Little boy. He's only a baby. When he was born they probably looked at him and knew no one would want him. Who would possibly want a dog without eyes? But like every other dog there he wags his tail, and loves to listen, and just be near anyone who would give him affaction. A little dog with an endless amount of love to give.

But no time left.

Oooooh Beautiful Basset!!!

I LOVE these drooly, wrinkly, short-legged things!!!

This ADORABLE little guy, who appears to be PUREBRED, was dumped at the shelter by his owner. According to them he was "aggressive." However, shelter personnel have noted otherwise.... They temperament tested him and noted that his tail is always wagging when people walk up, and he is friendly and has had no problems with other dogs....

So why the bad rap? I have to wonder... was this some type of isolated incident where the dog was frightened? Maybe the owners were abusive? I know there are aggressive dogs and I'd never recommend anyone adopt them unless they are willing to work with them, but according to shelter records, this dog doesn't seem to fit that profile. He hasn't shown any aggression at the shelter... which is actually quite good since the shelter can be a stressful place for many dogs.... So if they are going to be aggressive, this is the place where it will usually be apparent.

Hopefully there's someone out there reading this, or looking at his sad face in that horribly blurry photo, and thinking... hummm what's the truth here? Maybe someone seeking a Bassett Hound to own, and thinking they have the experience and heart to go meet this guy.... give him a chance and possibly take him home....

Keeshound, Sheltie, Unknown Mix...

Here's a dog on her last day, these are her last hours.

She's an older dog. Her family brought her to the shelter because they didn't have enough time for her. She has missing teeth. Her coat is a little scraggly, she's a little underweight at 25 lbs., she has a little arthritis, and she's just a little too old.

So no one wants her.

Most people are afraid to adopt a senior. They are afraid of the heartbreak of losing them. Chances are their time may be short. When you fall in love with something it's hard to let it go. So no one wants to love her. They are afraid to spend that emotion there. Losing something dearly so quick would be too painful, so they figure don't risk it... don't go there... the potential cost in money and emotion is just too great...

So there is no one to love her or want her.

This DOG - ID#A1065100
I am an unaltered female, tan and black Keeshond mix.
The shelter thinks I am about 8 years old.
I came into the shelter on Sep 21, 2009.

And... at the last hour... taken out by BEST FRIENDS RESCUE!

Ginger and Spice and Everything Nice

Stunningly beautiful.... just like her photo...

Ginger is everything that little girls are made of, but so much more... velvety eyes, and fur so soft and lovely you just want to run your fingers through it. A best buddy who is beautiful, inquisitive and intelligent. According to shelter volunteers she is all this.

Unfortunately she was brought to the shelter and has caught a cold. She is being treated for this, but needs to leave so she can get well... if she doesn't find a family soon she won't make it out. And all the beauty, and everything that is special and wonderful and unique about her will be gone.

They say we don't really die when the people who loved us carry our memory in their hearts. If I could wish one thing for her, it would be that she could be an important part of someone's life. The dog they would never forget, the one they carry in their heart their whole life. I hope she gets out and gets this. I hope she gets the time, and a chance to love and be loved by someone special. Someone who will hold her in their heart forever.

My name is GINGER.
